Members of the Decorah Middle School staff have assembled a special video for their students. Based off the work of Brooklyn photographer Stephen Lovekin, they collected portraits of DMS faculty and staff in their homes, self-isolating. Some of those pictured even decided to share words of encouragement and hope. The video can be viewed using this link: https://eduvision.tv/l?memteO.
Art teacher Amy Courtney remarked, “We are using this project as an Art & Computer Challenge for students next week; the directions will be posted on their Continuous Learning page. Ideally, this is meant as a springboard for students to create their own interpretation that will be edited once photographs have been collected.”
Special thanks go out to photographers and editors Kathy Oftedahl, Sue Sander, Denise Lee, and Amy Courtney for their work on this project. More information about Stephen Lovekin’s project can be found here: https://news.artnet.com/art-world/photographer-social-distancing-through-windows-1821930.
