What is your current state of mind?
My current state of mind is heavy. I just learned that someone very important to my family is in critical condition in New York State with presumed covid19 and it is not expected she will recover.
How has your perspective changed over the last few weeks?
My perspective has changed over the last few weeks with such lightening speed it’s hard to track. One touch point for me was attending a really interesting panel discussion at Luther about 3 weeks ago, when it was just something happening very far away.
What is your most pressing concern?
My most pressing concern is for people I know in high risk groups- from friends here in Decorah to my parents in the Bay Area. And knowing that it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
What are you hopeful about?
I am hopeful and happy for the planet which is getting this sudden break from the murderous pressure we put on her.
Another thing I love is the massive surge of helpers who emerge out of nowhere in times of need. And seeing families taking walks together. Things are going to be really different, I don’t think we understand how different, and I believe some of it will be good.
